I was reading this article on Slate about whether atheists or religious people are happier. It came to the conclusion that religious people are happier on the whole, but not because of their religion. They are happier because they are connected to a community. That makes sense to me.
So now I’m thinking that I should either start attending church at the All Souls Unitarian-Universalist congregation down near the Plaza, or that I should start going to meetings of one of the several local humanist or free-thought groups listed on meetup.com. I’d rather not go alone, so I guess I need to research the available options and see which ones I can get my family to attend with me. I’m betting the All Souls option is the only one that would get takers.
